The Books of Kells

The globally acclaimed Trinity College Dublin is Ireland’s top university, founded in 1592 and situated in the vibrant capital city, Dublin. Trinity’s burstling campus is home to a community of scholars with acclaimed reputation at the cutting edge of research and teaching. The college is famed for its priceless treasures including the awe-inspiring Book of Kells (on permanent exhibition) and the mind-boggling Long Room (the inspiration for the library in the first Harry Potter movie). The ‘Book of Kells’ is the centrepiece of an exhibition which attracts over 500,000 visitors to Trinity College in Dublin city each year. The original Gospels (Book of Kells) written around the year 800 AD, contains richly decorated copy of the four gospels in Latin text, based on the Vulgate edition (completed by St. Jerome in 384 AD). President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and family had the privilege of visiting the Trinity College Book of Kells’ on their official tour of Ireland. It is a must-see for anyone visiting Ireland.
